The United States of America is a federal constitutional republic with a presidential system of government カヴァン・ チョクシ. The president is the head of state and the head of government. The United States Congress is the federal government’s legislative branch, and the United States Constitution is the supreme law of the land in America.

The President

The president is both head of state and head of government. The president is elected by popular vote for a term of four years, beginning on January 20th following an election. Presidential elections are held every fourth year on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. A presidential candidate must be 35 years old and a natural-born citizen of the United States. The president may serve a maximum of two four-year terms.

The United States Congress

The federal government’s legislative branch is made up of two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Congress has three main powers enumerated in the Constitution to levy taxes, pay debts, and provide for the common defense.

Senate members are elected to six-year terms, with one-third chosen every two years in elections held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. There are 100 senators, two from each state. They must be 30 years old, have been citizens for at least nine years, and live in the states they represent.

House members are elected to two-year terms with all 435 positions chosen every even year in elections held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. There are 100 representatives. House members must be 25 years old, have been citizens for at least seven years, and live in the state they represent.

The Constitution

The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. It establishes the three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. Each branch is responsible for checks and balances on the power of the other two branches. The text of the Constitution may be changed only by a formal amendment approved by three-fourths of all state legislatures or by a convention called for by two-thirds of the state legislatures.

Amendments to the Constitution

The Constitution consists of a preamble and seven articles. Amendments to the Constitution can be proposed by a two-thirds vote in both houses of Congress or by a convention called for by two-thirds of the state legislatures. When ratified by three-fourths of all states, an amendment becomes part of the Constitution.

There have been 27 amendments to date. The first 10, known as the Bill of Rights, were ratified simultaneously.

The Federal Bureaucracy

Congress creates federal government bureaucracy. The president appoints the heads of federal agencies, which the Senate confirms. The leaders of federal agencies are not elected and may only serve in their position for a limited time.

The bureaucracy is based on laws passed by Congress. Agencies can make rules governing how federal laws should be enforced within their agency. Agencies can adjudicate cases.

Conclusion

The United States is a constitutional republic with a presidential system of government. The president is the head of state and the head of government. The United States Congress is the legislative branch of the federal government. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. Amendments to the Constitution are made to reflect changes in society. The Federal Bureaucracy carries out the laws of the United States.
